What is Business Emergency?
Business Emergency is a municipal organization established in 1997 to support companies with financial problems. Since its start, one thousand companies have received help and many have been able to avoid bankruptcy. From 2009 is now available to all of Västra Götaland region as well as Kungsbacka and Varberg. Business Region Göteborg manages this organization.
Business Emergency offers companies with up to twenty employees, five hours of free counseling.They, together with the companies, prepare a plan of action that makes it possible to continue running the company. Business Emergency also provides contacts and assists in negotiations with, for example, suppliers and creditors.
How does Business Emergency help? How does it promote entrepreneurship? A company with financial difficulties often has trouble keeping its focus and rarely has anyone with whom it can discuss its problems. Business Emergency helps companies to structure their activities and create the conditions necessary to continue operations, thereby saving jobs for both the owner and employees.During this process, companies often gain a better understanding of financial connections which prepares them for the future and strengthens their self-esteem.
Have there been any concrete results?A survey held in April 2011 indicates that 60% of companies that sought help between 2005 and 2009 are still in business. Is Business Emergency unique to Sweden or the world? Similar organizations exist in other place in Sweden, but none have been in operation as long as Business Emergency in Västra Götaland.
How is it financed?The current organization, available to 51 municipalities, is financed by the Västra Götaland region, Business Region Göteborg and federation of local government authorities in Skaraborg, Fyrbodal and Sjuhärad.
