1) Cluster and network projects

Business Region Göteborg serves as the principal in two related projects:

GöteborgBIO is a joint project bringing together national and regional players. Its aim is to create fertile soil for long-term growth in the region´s biomedical field, by cultivating advanced academic research and transforming it into commercial innovations and applications in the health-care system.

The project has four main focus areas:

  • reinforce the commercial dividends from research and development with the Gothenburg region´s strong profile areas of biomaterials and cell therapy
  • educate and train future leaders in advanced business development within the biomedical field
  • reinforce and develop the infrastructure for commercial development of projects within the sphere of biomedicine
  • attract expertise and capital to the biomedical field in the Gothenburg region.

MedCoast Scandinavia is a non-profit network organisation whose aim is to develop and reinforce the biomedical sector in the Göteborg-Oslo region. MedCoast Scandinavia serves as a catalyst to facilitate cooperation between academia, business and industry and the public sector, marketing the region internationally and nationally and supporting entrepreneurship and the commercialisation of innovative ideas. The aim is that Göteborg-Oslo should be a leading biomedical region in Europe.

3) Investments and international contacts

Together with Invest Sweden we assist and inform foreign companies about investments and business establishment opportunities in the Gothenburg region. We arrange Business-to-Business meetings and facilitate contacts. For instance, we can help find the appropriate contacts at universities and hospitals on various matters such as research cooperation. Business Region Göteborg also provides assistance in finding suitable premises and local human resources.

4) Marketing

We help market the Gothenburg region´s biomedical sector, for instance at trade fairs, conferences and seminars.

5) Meeting-place and specialist competence

In order to support the industry, spread know-how and provide information we organise a wide range of activities. One example is the seminars that are arranged within the framework of GöteborgBIO, which in addition to know-how transfer also spotlights the creation of meeting-places.

Do contact is if you have any questions regarding the region´s biomedical sector!
