 climate smart city distribution
Climate smart city distribution (Klimatsmart Citydistribution)
Background:
Klimatsmart Citydistribution is a demonstration project in the City of Gothenburg's environmental zone, which will test and demonstrate a number of fuels and vehicle technologies for distribution trucks. This is taking place by means of up to thirty heavy vehicles running on biodiesel (RME), pine diesel, DME and vehicle gas (via methane-diesel technology). Hybrid trucks will also be demonstrated. Coordination of freight transport will be investigated and tested where required in order to reduce freight traffic within the environmental zone.

Purpose:
The project aims to develop a model for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from freight transport in the City of Gothenburg environmental zone.  The model can be used in other cities and eventually exported. The project will contribute to the introduction of climate-efficient vehicles with new and existing technologies, as well as testing the coordination of freight transport.

Objective: The objective is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent in the environmental area in the vehicle fleets of the four carriers (Schenker, Posten, DHL and GLC).

Operators: The project is a collaboration between the carriers, DHL, GLC, Posten Logistics and Schenker, fuel suppliers FordonsGas and Preem, Swedish Road Administration, GMV/Chalmers and Volvo Trucks. Business Region Göteborg is the project manager.
