Background: Agriculture has the largest supply of raw materials that can be anaerobically digested into biogas. In Skaraborg there is the potential to produce enough gas for more than 70 000 passenger cars.Purpose:
To exploit this potential, the Swedish Rural Economy and Agricultural Societies and the LRF in Skaraborg have taken the initiative for the SkaraborgsGas network. SkaraborgsGas is a forum for information and development work aimed at identifying strengths and weaknesses as well as highlighting business opportunities for companies in the biogas field.
Objective:
The vision and objective is to a large extent to be able to supply the entire vehicle fleet in the region with biogas, to start exporting biogas to other regions, to create new jobs and to supply the food industry with refrigeration in the form of liquid carbon dioxide.
Operators:
An important aspect is that local business development groups are established around Skaraborg, and SkaraborgsGas shall be supportive of their development work. Collaborating in the project are the Swedish Rural Economy and Agricultural Societies in Skaraborg and Västra Götaland, LRF, FordonsGas Sverige AB, Skaraborg municipal association and the VG region as well as Innovatum AB.
