The climate investment program
Klimp is state aid that the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency manages and which has existed since 2003. The Klimp grant is intended to encourage municipalities, businesses and other organizations to implement long-term investments that reduce environmental impact and encourage local involvement and local initiative.Business Region Göteborg are program owners of two Klimp programs where 11 projects are included. In total grants of SEK 83 million were awarded to local climate investments.
The projects are estimated to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 56 000 tonnes per year. The overall investments for the measures amount to SEK 342 million. The Klimp programs continue to 2012 and are based on production plants for liquid biogas, infrastructure development, the conversion of heavy vehicles and information measures amongst other things.

Results from previous Klimp projects:During the period 2003-2007 a Klimp program was carried out and completed in which Business Region Göteborg were program owners and FordonsGas Sverige and Lerum Municipality were the organizations responsible for 3 projects. - FordonsGas Sverige's projects resulted in two gas filling stations being built, one in Kungsbacka and one in Stenungsund.
- Lerum carried out the measure, contributing to the additional cost for gas vehicles in Lerum Municipality, which resulted in 25 new gas vehicles being introduced in the municipality.
- Business Region Göteborg were responsible for the operation of regional information campaigns promoting biogas for vehicles which resulted in over 600 company visits as well as ten new municipalities and six companies and organizations being added to the project. Eight new filling stations were also established in municipalities that we worked with, and the number of gas vehicles and the volume of vehicle gas sold increased continuously during the program period.
