The Göteborg Region is at the forefront in the development of energy-efficient buildings and passive buildings in Sweden. Examples include Lindåshusen in Mölndal, Brogården in Alingsås, Hamnhuset at Norra Älvstranden, the passive building centre in Alingsås, a centre for passive building technology know-how, as well as the research program Homes for Tomorrow at Chalmers University of Technology. The first preschool in Europeto be built according to passive building standards is located in Alingsås.
