An important part of IT Center West´s work is promoting sustainable networks in the region´s ICT sector. Cooperation between universities, researchers and industry plays a major role in this respect. We arrange network get-togethers that go by the name of DigIT twice a year, with the same degree of focus on talks as on forging new business contacts. For seveveral years, IT Center West has contributed to maintaining a network for women in the ICT branch who are members of the Swedish Association of Computer Science. In addition, we publish a monthly newsletter that is a valuable tool for keeping up-to-date with the region´s IT branch.
New subprojects have contributed to developing the three cutting edge competence fields of telematics, microwave technology, and visualization. Three clusters that have already been established are Telematics Valley, Microwave Road and Center of Visualization. Within Microwave Technology, there are two VINNOVA Center of Excellence, Chase and GigHertz Center at Chalmers. At present we are working with three areas, Green ICT, ICT Learning and ICT Health with substantial knowledge within the region. In our experience, this process takes about two years. A prerequisite is a lot of interest and commitment on the part of companies within the cluster and the academic sector. |
