Within the Göteborg Region, the political conclusions based on this insight are:

— That globalization is strongly linked to the continuous urbanization and the rise of large and growing metropolitan regions. International trade, economic regeneration and growth are being concentrated in growing metropolitan regions. Global competition is turning into the competition between such expanding regions. To develop further, the Göteborg Region has to meet the challenges of this competition.

— The access to a large local market is a great advantage in the competition for the localization of large enterprises as well as small and medium sized businesses. A large and growing local market gives increasing diversity and a larger degree of dynamics.

— Strong and compact regions enable large scale transformation of the energy systems, investment in public transport and other systems, which deliver substantial improvements both regarding the climate as well as the general environment.

— Business and working life is becoming more and more knowledge intensive.Creative environments and regions are linked to transparency, tolerance and trust.
