Blood vessels made of cellulose may gain national acclaim
The Göteborg based innovation making the foundation of a project "taming" bacteria into spinning blood vessels out of cellulose, will represent Western Sweden in the national Skapa award.
This is Sweden´s first scholarship for inventors, rewarding the winner SEK 860,000.

Researchers Aase Bodin, Henrik Bäckdahl, Paul Gatenholm, Lena Gustavsson and Bo Risberg make up the team behind the tamed bacteria. This technology could prove crucial for transplantation of small blood vessels, eg when performing bypass surgery. The technology is commercialized through the company Arterion.

Also representing Western Sweden will be Svenning Eriksson and his invention Bubble Expansion Valve.
