Congratulations to this year´s prize-winners in Venture Cup West!
Venture Cup West award ceremony took place on December 9th and a packed auditorium watched SEK 150,000 being shared by 18 prize-winners.
At this year´s awards ceremony held on December 9, the 10 best business ideas in Venture Cup West 08/09 were chosen. There was a great sense of anticipation among the 450 guests packed into the hall of the Chalmers Conference Centre when the 32 nominated contributions were presented, and 10 winners were finally called up on stage to receive SEK 10,000 each.Among the 10 winners is the company T-sort, represented by Ina Pieper, Fredrik Weschke and Samuel Troilius. T-sort develops a highly effective, but non-aggressive, cell-based cancer treatment which offers an alternative to present-day radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The final product is a selected blend of the patient´s own active immune cells prepared by a new, unique method of identification.

Another winner was Cereduce, represented by Björn Carlsson and Gustav Öhrn. Cereduce is a project at GIBBS (Göteborg International Bioscience Business School), and the business idea is based on providing wine makers with a novel and unique yeast which allows for a reduction in the alcohol content of wine. The other eight finalists were: Valter UF, Klätterskogen, Artificiella konversationella agenter på webben, Waterfuse, Vascuepant, Lantvind, Quick oil change and Adfreight.
In addition to these prizes, Innovation Bronze Venture Cup grants of SEK 5000 each were awarded to the six best contributions from each region outside the Göteborg area and the Food & Health prize to the two best business ideas within food and health.
