Göteborg Region- best in Europe on entrepreneurship
The Göteborg Region was declared the best in the European Cities Entrepreneurship Ranking 2007. It is the first survey in Europe where enterprises themselves judge the quality on local support systems for entrepreneurship. The study was conducted by ECER together with scientists from six countries' universities.The study involved 21 European cities and was carried out by a team of researches from Ecole de Management in Lyon, France. It is based on companies´ opinions about support systems and the range of entrepreneurship service available in each region. Services supplied by Business Region Göteborg were cited as one explanation for the Göteborg Region´s excellent ranking position.
The leading scientist of the survey has commented the result as following:
“There is something called Business Region Göteborg where several different branches converge to support entrepreneurship. They obviously work in an exemplary way", says Olivier Torres — professor, Ecole de Management, Lyon
The success factors for Göteborg Region which the survey stresses in particular, is the good economical environment, the availability of facilities and offices and the strategic investment on regional support to entrepreneurship and incubators which are led by Business Region Göteborg.
