The key objectives of the strategy for sustainable growth in Göteborg Region are:
 
- Continuously increasing population by more than 8 000 inhabitants per year.
- Geographical enlargement of the commuting and labor market in the region, reaching 1,5 million citizens by 2020.
-  Comprehensive extension of the infrastructure in the region. The aim is to double the market share consisting of public transportation in 2025.
-  Expansion of the city centre, creating 30 000 new residential homes and commercial space for 40 00 new jobs, equipped with modern facilities serving the cultural- and creative industries.
-  The expansion of the city centre produces a basis for further growth in the sub region centres.
- Create a climate of participation among the inhabitants, corporations and organizations in the region. Especially in the planning and action processes for sustainable growth.
