The city beats Stockholm as well as Birmingham, Amsterdam, London,Berlin, Brussels and many more. In total, there were 27 cities that were ranked after its small business friendliness and the entrepreneurial climate. Good premises and a well-established cooperation between the commercial and industrial life, universities and public sector make Göteborg Region very strong.

Behind this survey is a team of researchers which was led by Professor Olivier Torres at Ecole de Management in Lyon, France, and who is also a representative in the European Council for Small Businesses which measures the business climate for small businesses in different countries.

Mr Torres says that “small enterprising has a lot to do with regional and local circumstances. Therefore, it was more interesting to study city regions instead of countries."

With support from French Banque Populaire, Europe Commission and tv-channel Euronews, researches from six countries conducted a survey in the 27 European cities.

“Göteborg received high values, especially when it comes to well-adapted premises for both the business activity as well as for the entrepreneur´s private life", says Mr Torres. “There is something called Business Region Göteborg where several parts of the society converge to support the entrepreneurship. They are obviously working in an exemplary way", he adds.
