Orthopaedic implants with Arcam´s Rapid Manufacturing technology
Arcams technology is now used for Ala Ortho´s first range of orthopaedic implants in series production with Rapid Manufacturing.
Arcam develops and manufactures machine systems for free-form fabrication of metal components. This is an advanced type of 3D printer in which layers of metal powder are formed by a beam of electrons into the desired shape, straight from the CAD program. The method is fast, and since the process takes place in a vacuum, the metal is kept free of impurities. This is of the utmost importance, particularly in the case of medical implants.
The technology is not industry-specific, but has proven to be a mainstay in the implant industry.
Arcam´s technology and services are found on three continents around the globe, creating unique complex parts for its clients on a daily basis. The Arcam EBM machines are used daily for Rapid Manufacturing of a variety of high performance parts and for medical implants creating a better life for patients around the globe.
Ala Ortho use their Arcam EBM S12 machine for RM series production of their orthopaedic implants.
Another one of Arcam's customers in the orthopaedic implants industry will launch their first range of EBM-manufactured orthopaedic implants later this month.
