Tourists and visitors to the Göteborg Region a growing industry, increased for the 15th year in a row.
Last year the number of visitors increased by 4.8 per cent, 3 million guest - nights where spent in hotels and youth hostels compared to the year before. This is truly a unique success, constant growth 15 year in a row is something no one else has achieved. Moore events, congresses and direct flights to Göteborg contribute to the success
Last year was an outstanding event - year, alongside the annual recurring events Göteborg hosted the European Athletic Championship and Volvo Ocean Race. The Christmas city Göteborg is a great ending to the year, the event that once started at the amusement park Liseberg has stretched out becoming a great event involving the entire city centre.
2006 was also a strong trade fair- and congress year. The strong economic situation and its influence on business travelling is adding to the numbers. One significant factor that contributes to the growth is the low cost Air Companies. The record-breaking upsurge in journeys to and from Göteborg´s two airports, Landvetter Airport and City Airport gives travellers from major cities in Europe an easy access to the Göteborg Region.
