The Environmental work of Göteborg-Landvetter Airport
Göteborg-Landvetter Airport is owned and run by Luftfartsverket, the LFV Group. Environmental issues are of vital importance to Civil Aviation and therefore to Göteborg-LandvetterAirport. The International airport of Göteborg puts a lot of effort into working strategically and structurally with environmental matters. It is important to the airport to continuously decrease the affect on the environment. The airport´s environmental management systems are therefore a central part of the environmental work.
Göteborg-Landvetter Airport shall:
- prevent pollution of the environment and continually improve activities with regard to the environment
- as a minimum requirement follow relevant environmental regulations as well as applicable international and national rules and demands
- actively take part in regional and local work to reduce our influence on the environment as well as acting for a lasting solution
- with a systematic and environmentally aware method, handle possible risks to the environment
- educate, train and motivate employees to carry out their duties in a environmentally responsible manner
The Göteborg-Landvetter airport also holds an environmental certification which tells that the airport has:
- conducted a mapping of how much the airport affects the environment and systematically valued how serious this effect is
- set up environmental goals to constantly reduce its noticeable environmental effect
- an environmental policy which describes how the airport shall work with these matters
- routines how to handle the environmental work
- been and is being revised each year by an external certification corporation. In addition, there are internal revisions conducted every year. The revisions aim at following up the environmental goals, the way of working according to the routines, and making sure that there is a constant improvement of the environmental performance.
Respect for the environment shall permeate every aspect of the operation and be an important factor in all decision making. Those areas of special interest for the airport are noise from air traffic, production of waste products, discharge into water and air and consumption of natural resources and fossil fuels.
