Verification support for innovative biomedicine projects with commercial potential
Biomedical Development in Western Sweden together with Sahlgrenska Science Park now offers a unique opportunity to apply for project verification support. Project funding start is January 2009 with a possibility of extension.
The support enables verification and progression of innovative research and development projects, with focus on identification and development of commercially important aspects.The support targets two project categories (that are applied for independently):
1. Projects in early (discovery) stage of drug development. Primarily, but not exclusively, “Chemical Biology" projects with emphasis on “screen-projects" aiming at identification and optimisation of unique compounds with potential to become candidate drugs.
2. Projects with a broader biomedical perspective including medical technology and biotechnology.
Project support can be received by companies, entrepreneurs and scientists within the research areas mentioned above. Basic project funding has to be in place to qualify for support. Projects involving collaboration of different disciplines/competence areas will be considered advantageous.
Support will be provided both as financial funding for project verification and as support for project management and business activities. Support will be given for one year with a possibility of extension. Maximum financial funding will be SEK 500.000.
Comprehensive call information, including application forms, will be posted on Sahlgrenska Science Park´s and GöteborgBIO´s web-pages in August 2008. Preliminary deadline for applications is 1 October, 2008.
